Excursions, exhibitions, installings, performance
Fly away or finally back home again? Only nerds make excursions to airports to count aeroplanes while starting and landing with the field glasses. All others want to go away again quickly. The Thalia Theater declares the airport as the aim and looks from there into the future of Central Germany. Hardly any other place reflects better to what kind of future we are moving towards: the meaning of our national frontiers, how we protect ourselves, how the dream of mobility looks like. The largest airport of Eastern Germany lies 15 minutes away from Leipzig and 11 minutes from Halle. LEJ is the economic outboard motor and one of the drollest places of the region. Not least because of a little Gallic village, which it encompasses. For AusFlugHafenSicht international artists convert the transit lounge airport to a world in which one would like to stay. The terminal becomes a stage, travel agencies become studios, a field turns into a research institute, the village “Kursdorf” becomes a “village of discourse”. A test panel for modern urban life - check in and stay!
