In 2003 Berlin started the project Holocene, a series of city portraits made annually. Characteristic of the collective – Bart Baele, Yves Degryse and formerly also Caroline Rochlitz – is its interdisciplinary work methods. Focusing on a specific research question, it engages different media depending on the content of the project. Berlin collaborates with diverse artistic as well as academic fields. It chooses to present its work on a variety of different circuits: theatres, museums, festivals, on location. Berlin extends this cycle further for Theater der Welt 2010 and with Tagfish has discovered a new filmic format for the Ruhr. From 2010-2013 Berlin is artist-in-residence at the STUK Leuwen in Belgium.
