Summer Academy

During the summer semester 2010, theatre studies students from all over Germany look into the themes and questions raised by Theater der Welt 2010. During the festival they will come to Mülheim to attend the festival, to discuss their conclusions and to take part in discussions with the audience. With so many international artists gathering together, they can watch and query the impetus behind and developments in contemporary theatre and place their own perspectives and work experience in relation to the festival and its artists.
Three groups will look at the following areas:
From 30 June to 4 July students from the Theatre Studies Institutes in Mainz, Munich and Bern concentrate on the themes of 'global players' and inter-cultural research.
From 7 to 11 July a second group consisting of students from Leipzig, Erlangen, Frankfurt and Gießen, look at the different forms of contemporary theatre and how to write about it.
A conference in co-operation with the University of Bochum entitled Andere Räume – Anderes Theater (Different Spaces – Different Theatre) runs from 14 to 17 July. Lectures and discussions concentrate on the relationship between theatre space and production form. Alongside guest speakers, students from the Universities of Hamburg, Hildesheim and Berlin exchange ideas.

Every Saturday at 4 pm there will be a seminar as part of the Summer Academy that is open to the public. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.
