A small town in the Canadian Arctic. Winter is over and with it the time when children have to stay indoors. In the spring they set off across the tundra in search of adventure. The adults are busy with their own problems, leaving the young people to their own devices.
Split Tooth tells of an adolescent girl whose life is dominated by the magnificence of nature and an indigenous society that is breaking apart. Accompanied by the throat singing of a female chorus and using both narrative and video elements, Tanya Tagaq takes us on a musical journey through the Arctic landscape, while creating theatrical images for Split Tooth‘s unique narrative universe that capture its young protagonist’s sharp wit and hunger for life.
