GRM Brainfuck is a look back in anger from a none-too-distant future: a furious reckoning with the accumulated miseries of our time. Set in post-Brexit Britain, Sibylle Berg’s novel describes the world through the eyes of marginalised youth. In the face of the marketisation of all areas of life, racism and omnipresent digital surveillance, these young people try to form a different kind of community, a replacement family for each other where they will never be hurt again. What helps them survive is grime – GRM – the biggest musical revolution since punk. Sebastian Nübling has directed at all the leading German-speaking theatres. His award-winning productions of Sybille Berg’s forcefully rhetorical texts have been invited to numerous festivals.
