Violence

Canada, Japan
Theatre
Marie Brassard’s suggestive visual theatre made up of video, light and sound installations has gained her a world-wide reputation and her latest work presents a theatrical kaleidoscope that investigates the ways violence contaminates us, in our most intimate territories. »More than ever in uncertain times like these art is a means of confronting all forms of brutality whose rumblings can be heard everywhere.«, M. Brassard. Brassard creates a series of powerfully associative images, in the midst of which reality tears up like a veil to reveal an enigmatic underworld inspired by Japanese history and myths, where the adults are invited to dive in. Those watching are called to enter levels of reality they were previously unaware of, in which human beings embark on a new, unscripted Odyssey.
