Lara Kramer

With Windigo Lara Kramer has created an epic that delves into the depths of repressed histories of the Canadian imaginary. Her performance is a living and bodily echo of the looting and destruction of the North American continent. Lara Kramer’s choreography draws shadows that speak of the consequences of merciless colonial invasion and the destruction of the originary cultures of the indigenous and first nations people. Windigo packs in a powerful whispered ballad that seeks to put a halt to the demons of violence to which the land and the bodies of its indigenous peoples have been exposed. With its arresting visuals and its at once inhibited and uninhibited emotion, this is a performance that quietly sows seeds of hope over and above shadowy destruction.
