Health Regulations

FAQs about your visit to the theatre

According to the regulations currently in force, it is possible for the Theater der Welt festival to stage performances at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, both on the open-air stage in the Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz and in its indoor theatres, the Großes Haus, Kleines Haus, Central and Junges Schauspielhaus as well as in the Dreischeibenhaus. Moreover, due to the trajectory of the pandemic with falling case rates, coronavirus protection measures have been eased and theatre visitors are no longer to prove their vaccination, recovery or test status. The rules on masks and social distancing continue to remain in force throughout the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus site. We are concerned to avoid endangering your and our health at all scheduled performances. All the information about your visit to the theatre can be found here. The health regulations listed here are those currently in force.
How do you secure your tickets?

We recommend that you buy your tickets through our webshop. The theatre box office in the pavilion on Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz is open from Monday to Friday from 10 h to 18.30 h and on Saturday from 10 h to 14 h. You can contact us by phone from Monday to Friday from 10 to 17 h and on Saturday from 10 to 14 h on 0211. 36 99 11. On the night, box offices open one hour before the performance begins. The box office is fitted with plexiglass screens to protect you and our staff.

Is it possible to work out who has sat where?

Personalised tickets are issued for all performances, so that it can be established who has sat where and who sat next to them. We also have the contact details (address and telephone number) for all visitors. In keeping with the law, this data will be deleted after four weeks.

What can you expect when you enter?

The venues will open one hour before the performance begins. Dispensers of hand sanitiser are ready for you at the entrance. Please wear FFP2 protection over your nose and mouth at all times. You are also obliged to keep this on during the performance. A minimum distancing requirement of 1.5 metres applies everywhere.

Because coronavirus protection measures have been relaxed, visitors to the theatre are not currently required to prove their test, vaccination or recovery status.

Is a mask required while visiting the theatre?

Wearing FFP2 protection over your mouth and nose is compulsory throughout the festival site (including the open-air seating). Masks also have to be kept on during the performance. Front of house staff will of course also be wearing FFP2 protection over their mouth and nose.

Is it possible to check items into the cloakroom?

We request that you take any coats or jackets with you to your seat. There should be enough space for you to put them down there.

Is catering available in the Großes Haus foyer?

Schillings Restaurant is open for you once again. Before the performances and during the interval we will be able to offer drinks and snacks depending on the venue and the coronavirus situation.

How will distancing be ensured inside the theatres?

Both outdoors and indoors, we only sell single seats or two seats together in a so-called »checkerboard pattern«.

What general precautionary measures does the Schauspielhaus guarantee?

The seating, toilets, bar, foyers and box office are cleaned before every performance. We are unable to hold public premiere parties or audience discussions under the present circumstances.

Please remember at all times: our front of house staff will be able to help you with any questions or problems.
